Horse racing has been part of José Santos Jr.’s life for generations. Born into a family deeply rooted in the sport, José’s grandparents were jockeys, and his father, Hall of Fame jockey José Santos, became one of the most respected riders in thoroughbred racing history. Growing up on the racetrack, José Jr. was immersed in the culture, discipline, and demands of the sport from an early age.
Like many raised around racing, José Jr. dreamed of becoming a jockey himself. As he matured, he recognized that his height would limit his ability to pursue a career in the saddle. Rather than stepping away from the sport he loved, he transitioned into jockey representation — a role that allowed him to stay deeply involved in the game while shaping careers from the inside.
Over the course of his career, José Santos Jr. has served as an agent for more than 80 riders, representing jockeys at over 25 racetracks across North America. His experience across multiple circuits gives him a comprehensive understanding of racing dynamics, regional opportunities, and the realities jockeys face at every stage of their careers.
José does not advise from the sidelines. He is intentional about who he represents and takes an active, hands-on role in building careers. Operating with a high level of discipline, pride, and expectation, José sets a standard that elevates both his riders and the professionals they work with. His name carries weight in the industry — and he protects it by doing things the right way, with integrity, accountability, and respect for the sport.
Known for working multiple circuits simultaneously, José is deeply committed to giving his riders the best possible representation. Through constant communication, strategic placement, and daily presence on the grounds, he advocates for his jockeys while holding them to the professional standards required to succeed at the highest level.
Rooted in tradition and driven by purpose, José Santos Jr. continues to build careers with intention, uphold the legacy of the Santos name, and contribute meaningfully to the future of the sport.
