Fernando Jara is a highly accomplished Panamanian jockey known for his tactical riding style, consistency, and success on the international stage. Born into a racing family, Jara developed a deep understanding of the sport early on and quickly rose through the ranks with his strong work ethic and natural feel for horses. He gained widespread recognition after winning the 2006 Belmont Stakes aboard Jazil and in the same year winning the Breeders Cup Classic aboard Invasor, showcasing his ability to perform under pressure on racing’s biggest stage.

Jara’s strengths include excellent race positioning, patience, and a smooth, balanced riding technique that allows horses to finish strongly. He is especially effective in route races, where his timing and decision-making give him a competitive edge. Jara will be based at Lone Star Park for the summer.
